CRICKET
CHANGE IN CANTERBURY TEAM One change has been made in the Canterbury cricket team to play Otago at Dunedin in the final Plunket Shield match of the season beginning on January 23. C. G. Snook, who played in the games against Auckland and Wellington, was not available, and O. Whitford (Riccarton) has been added to the 11 players already chosen. The twelfth man will be named later. As the Plunket Shield is almost certain to be won by Otago or Canterbury, the Auckland Cricket Association, last season’s winner, has forwarded the shield to Dunedin, where it will be on display in a shop window. The shield will probably be presented to the winning team after the game. WOMEN’S CRICKET AUSTRALIAN TEAM TO LEAVE NEXT MONTH (P.A.) AUCKLAND. January 15. The All-Australian Women’s Cricket Association team, which was to have left Sydney on March 17 for a tour of New Zealand, will now leave on February 22. The team is likely to play matches at Auckland. Matamata. Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Greymouth, and Nelson, and a test match against New Zealand at a place to be decided.
