The weather forecast for Canterbury | Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological: Office, Wellington, and dealing with thel 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: a deep depression centred south-east of Otago covers most of New Zealand. Forecast to 5 p.m.: fresh north-west winds, and mild fair weather at first. Moderate southerlies extending slowly from the south, accompanied by cooler temperatures and scattered showers, especially about Banks Peninsula. WEST COAST The following is the forecast for the West Coast of the South Island:— Moderate westerly winds. Weather rather unsettled with occasional showers. Temperatures moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER Tr.e weather yesterday was fine and •unny with a moderate to strong northwest wind. The maximum temperature Was 77.4 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear, and there was a very light north-west wind. The barometer, rising. registered 29.64 inches (1003.7 millibars).
