AKAROA CLUB’S RACES The Akaroa Sailing Club’s weekly race was sailea in a light breeze on Sunday. Results were: Huia (C. Pool) 1, Waiana (I Petterson) 2, Metro (M. McMaster) 3, Tohe (Brown Bros.) 4. The Kulua (D. Hammond) also started, but did not complete the course. The race was sailed for Mrs Cherrington-Hunter’s trophy. Placings in a race for Tauranga yachts were - Brian Pool 1, J- Ower 2. J. Chapman. the only other competitor, came in first; but was disqualified for fouling a buoy. Calder Pennant Event Saturday’s race, the third in the series for the John Calder Pennant, resulted:— Kalua (D. Hammond), 3.36.7, 1: Tohe (Brown Bros.). 3.38.11, 2; Nanki Poo (J. Calder). 3.39.54, 3: Huia (C Pool) 3.40.0, 4- Kirimini (I. Gibbs), 3.40.6, 5; Waiana (I Petterson). 3.40.22, 6; Snark (L. Wales). 3.42.7, 7; Metro (M. McMaster), 3.44.42, 8.
