Heavy Rain in Auckland.—ln 11 hours on Friday, more than two inches of rain fell in Auckland, nearly the average for the whole of the month. The rainfall was the heaviest since last April. Starting about one o’clock in the afternon the rain became general throughout the Auckland province and should be a stimulus to production.—(P.A.) Stolen Car Recovered.—A car owned by Mrs N. Martin, of 63 Armagh street, which was taken twice last week, has been recovered. The car was taken for the first time early last Sunday morning, when it was removed from an open parking area opposite the Provincial Council Chambers. It was recovered that evening, but was removed from the same parking place again last Thursday. Inquest Opened.—An inquest into the death of Elizabeth B. Sim, aged 41, of 22 Nursery road, Phillipstown, who was found dead in her bed at 7,30 o’clock yesterday morning was opened before the Coroner (Mr H. P. Lawry) yesterday afternoon and adjourned sine die after evidence of identification Rad been given.
