FIRE AT FREEZING WORKS

WOOL AND MACHINERY DESTROYED (P.A.) PALMERSTON N., Jan. 10. Fire gutted the woolroom of the Longburn freezing works last evening, destroying a large quantity of wool and some machinery. The spontaneous combustion of damp wool is believed to be the cause. The prompt action of about 20 workers and a squad from the Palmerston North Fire Brigade prevented the spread of the fire. The killing of lambs to-day as usual.
