On Favourable Terms Card Money had run several promising races before he gained a well-earned success in the Hopeful Handicap at Wingatui last Saturday. He finished fourth in the. Welcome Stakes at Riccarton, ano was again fourth in the Champagne Stakes at Wingatui. In the Hopeful Handicap, Card Money had 7-7 and met Top Deck, Shadamai, and Robin Redbreast on considerably better terms than he did in the Champagne Stakes. He jumped out smartly from the rails position and did not give anything else a chance to get near him. He ran out when tiring over the last furlong, and had to survive a protest by M. Coskery, the owner of the second horse. Gay Gundi, alleging that he had interfered with the latter as he ran out. Card Money is one of the few of Kincardine’s progeny to have shown winning form as a two-year-old. On his dam’s side he is related to some very speedy horses, his dam. Pocket Money, being by Phar Lap’s indistinguished brother. Friday Night. - from the Paper Money mare Gold Paper, a sister to Gold Tinge, winner of the A.J.C. Breeders’ Plate, Pin Money, winner of the Welcome stakes at Riccarton and a' good sprinter in Rereatu. winner of 11 races including the Shorts Handicap at Ellerslie. Card Money is a first foal and was purchased as a yearling for 450gna.
