OUTBREAK OF PARALYSIS
ANOTHER DEATH IN AUCKLAND
(P.A.) AUCKLAND. December 28. A boy aged 12 from Wiri died in Auckland this morning from infantile paralysis. His death was the second in 24 hours, and it brought the total number of fatal cases in the central Auckland health district since the outbreak began last month to seven. Four of the cases have been adults. A five-year-old boy from Mount Roskill died on Waiheke Island on Christmas Eve, and it is thought possible that he may have been suffering from paralysis. The cause of death will not be established until after a post-mortem examination. No positive cases of infantile paralysis were reported in the district to-day, but two suspect cases have been admitted to the hospital since Thursday evening.
Forty-eight positive and 13 suspected cases were in hospital to-night.
