DANGER FOR CHILDREN

Sir,—May I draw the attention of those interested to the fact that it is dangerous for children to play round the telephone box at the foot of Dyers Pass road? They swing heads down on the iron railings there. Some swing without holding on by their hands. An accident serious or fatal may easily occur. The writer warned some small girls of the danger, but defiantly they continued. In the “old education” days leSs was heard of “how things began,’’ but headmasters made pointed and effective references to “how things would end” if pupils were disrespectful or disobedient. The children then had no doubts that they meant what they said.—Yours, etc., SIMPLE SUE. December 24, 1947.
