CONDEMNED HOUSE
TRANSFER TO WAIMAIRI COUNTY REFUSED « TOTALLY UNSUITABLE N FOR COUNCIL’S AREA’r Permission to move a two-foomed house from 62 Charles street, Linwood, to Racecourse road, New Brighton, sought by Mr G. Cameron, was refused by the Waimairi County Council last evening, after a report on the house had been read by the acting-engineer (Mr R. A. Macfarlane). The house had been condemned by the Christchurch City Council some time ago, had been refused entry into the Paparua County Council’s area, and was totally unsuitable for moving into the Waimairi county, said the engineer. The report said that tha secondhand materials in the house were borer infested. The rooms were 10ft x 10ft 4in, and there was a sft x 4ft porch. There was a detached bathroom and lavatory. On the motion of Cr. J. W. Green, seconded by Cr. H. Kitson, the application was declined.
