GENEVA TRADE AGREEMENTS
CANADIAN PARTIES CRITICAL
(Rec. 10 p.m.) OTTAWA, Dec. 9. The Opposition leaders demanded a searching study of the Geneva trade agreements when the Prime Minister (Mr W. L. Mackenzie King) moved a resolution in the House of Commons for ratification of the agreements. Mr John Bracken, the Progressive Conservative leader, said that ratification would mean the “death-xnell” of British preference. Mr M. J. Coldwell, leader of the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation, said that he had the greatest respect for the American people, but he did not want to exchange the domination of Downing Street for the domination of Washington.
The Minister of Supply (Mr C. D. Howe) indicated that the Government might agree to Opposition requests for the appointment of a committee to examine the Geneva agreements. Return of N.Z. League Team.—The New Zealand Rugby League touring team will sail for home on January 30 by the Port Hobart from London. They will conclude the English section of their toqr in time to spend Christmas in London and will then go to France to a series of seven matches, beginning with a game in Paris on December 28, and concluding on January 25 at Bordeaux. The New Zealand team to play Bramley at Bramley to-mor-row will be; -Clarke, Anderson, McGregor, MclnnaniSy, Clark, Barchard. Hancock, Ainsley, Smith, Newton, Mcßride, Hardwick. The proposed new line-out and scrummage rules will be played in one half of this game.—London, December 9.
