FREEZING WORKS STRIKE

NO DEVELOPMENTS YESTERDAY COMPANY’S VIEWS ON • DISPUTE (P.A.) AUCKLAND, December 10. Although the strikers had been in touch with the Labour Department to Wellington, no developments occurred to-day in the dispute at the Otahuhu freezing works of R. and W. Hellatar. Ltd., which have been at a standstill since Monday. No negotiations have so far been entered into directly between the men and the employers. A representative of the company seid to-day that press statements had tended to confuse the position. The merit of shipping veal, unboned or otherwise, was not a question at issue. However, in the experience of the company it was better from the point of view of condition of the meat on arrival to the United Kingdom that bobby veal carcases should be shipped in an unboned condition.
