TOP-DRESSING FROM THE AIR
EXPERIMENTS TO BE MADE ON HILL COUNTRY (PA) WELLINGTON. Dec. 10. “If it was a question of dropping a bomb, the necessary precautions would have been carried out years ago. This is just as important,” said Mr H. W. Youren, a member of the Royal Commission on,the Sheep Industry, commenting this morning when evidence was given about the possibility of carrying out top-dressing and planting hill country from aircraft. A committee from the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control Council had been set up, and it was hoped that the first trials would be made early next year, the chairman of the council (Mr W. L. Newnham) said in evidence Experiments would be made with Royal New Zealand Air Force airclaft.
