CHRISTCHURCH MANAGER RETIRES Mr L. F. Casey, who has been manager of the New Zealand Government Life Insurance Department in Christchurch for six and a half years, was met on his retirement recently and presented with a cheque by the Commissioner of the Government Life Insurance Department, Wellington (Mr H. L. Ryan), on behalf of the inside staff pf the Christchurch and Wellington departments. The supervisor. Mr L. B. Ferguson, of Wellington, and the Timaru and Dunedin district branch managers were also present at the gathering. “I have known Mr Casey since he was a boy, and the greatest thing about him is his ability to make friends. Apart from his business relationships, one has to admire him for the character of which he is possessed, said Mr Ryan in making the presentaMr Casey was presented with a silver cigarette case by Mr H. M. S. Dawson, on behalf of the firm of Joynt, Andrews, Cottrell, and Dawion, with whom he has had business associations. A social evening was held at tne home of Mr and Mrs C. Rollo when Mr Casey was bidden farewell by the outside members of the staff. “Mr Casey has given unstinted loyalty to the men on the road, and was able to inspire them with his own enthusiasm. The amount of business written under his direction has been phenomenal because of the co-opera-tion which he has been able to inspire in both inside and outside representatives,” said Mr E. Prince, presenting JVIr Casey with two arm chairs on behalf of the outside staff. Mr Casey has been in the service of the Department for 41 and a half years, and has been manager of the department’s branches in Hamilton and Greymouth. . , .. .. . Mr W. H. Tebbs, formerly district manager of the Nelson branch, has been appointed manager in Mr Casey s place.
