“It is a fact that 75 per cent. of the tours bought throughout the world are bought by women. Generally the women buy them qn behalf of their husbands, but it is the women who decide how they shall travel and I do not think the majority of women are very keep on flying,” said Mr U, J, Schmitt, general manager of the Tourist Department, when replying to a question about the probable influence of air travel on the tourist in* dustry, at the annual conference of the South Island Local Bodies’ Association at Invercargill.
