By, Rey de Oro from the King Cole mare Gold Queen, Roi I’Or, which raced throughout his career in the interests of Mr P. Brown; Waimate, won his way to the tightest classes, his list of successes including a win in the Auckland Cup of 1934 in the record time of 4min 15 2-ssec, a record for the race which still stands. Roi I’Or also has a grass track record of 2min 36 l-ssec to his credit. Roi I’Or was a smart pacer both on dirt and grass tracks, and over all distances. Stafford, will have his next race in the Canterbury Handicap of two miles at the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting on Saturday. A six-year-old gelding by Jack Potts from Rose Worthy, Worthy Ace showed his best form over this distance last season when he won the second division of the Seadown Handicap by 10 lengths from Canny Scott at the Timaru Trotting Club’s meeting on March 8. Bardia gave an encouraging display to finish in fourth place to Belmoral, Laureate, and Buncrana in the Eastbourne Handicap at the Wellington Trotting Club’s meeting on November 29. F. E. Upton has His Excellency in good order and he should show up over the mile and a quarter journey in the Wainoni Handicap at Addington on Saturday.
