Waitohl.—Arrangements for a children's party to be held next month were made at a meeting of the Waitohl Women's Institute, at which Mrs G. A. Cations presided. The "golden thread" talk for the month was given by Mrs Dunnlll. Mrs Bedwell was welcomed as a new member. After the business was concluded the institute combined with the Rangitira Valley Institute and heard a talk on conditions in England during the war. given by Mrs G. Kain (Geraldine). Mrs Cations presented the speaker with a floral spray. Peel Forest.—Mrs M. * Reid was presented with a gift from members, and accepted one for Mrs J. Cooke, at the monthly meeting of the Peel Forest Women’s Institute. Mrs G. R. Wooding gave an account of the half-yearly meeting of the federation, and a report of the fifth conference of the Associated Countrywomen of the World, held tn Holland was also read. Mrs Button (Fairview) gave a talk on thg making of toys. Timaru Personal.—Dr. C. J.®Tinsley is visiting Timaru on bls way back to Australia from Copenhagen, where he shared the chairmanship of the Baptist World Congress, in which representatives of 50 nations participated. Dr. Tinsley was minister of the Stanmore Road Baptist Church, Sydney, for 44 years, was formerly president of the Baptist Union of Australia, and is at present a vice-presi-dent of the Baptist World Alliance. He gave an address in the Baptist Church last evening, when a film of the Congress meetings at Copenhagen was shown. The Rev. John Smith, who has been assistant-curate at St Mary’s Church, Timaru. for the last two years has been appointed assistant-curate ’at St. Stephen's Church, Ashburton, and will take up his new position at the beginning of next month. The Rev. Kenneth Schollar, vicar of St. Stephen’s Church. Fairlie, has accepted the cure of Prebbleton. Mr Schollar has been in Fairlie for about two years. He expeefa to leave the district early in the New Year.
