MAGISTRATE’S COURT

WEDNESDAY (Before Mr F. F. Reid, S.M.) SUSPENDED SENTENCE Harry Alfred Wilson, a miner, aged 29, was ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within 12 months, on a charge of stealing £2 12s 6d, the property of Felix Seigert. Detective-Sergeant A. A. Herron sAid that accused had been seen in a city hotel on Tuesday, leaning over a bar with his hands in the cash register. He had taken £2 12s 6d from the till. REMANDED Leonard Joseph Olsen, a labourer aged 28, pleaded not guilty to a charge of being idle and disorderly in that he had insufficient visible means of support. He was remanded to appear on November 26. BUILDING OFFENCES A number of prosecutions were brought by the District Building Controller for alleged building offences. Mr A. W. Brown conducted the prosecutions. For using cement without permits, Downings, Ltd., and E. W. G. Leithwaite were each fined £2, Charles Malzard was convicted and ordered to pay costs, S. J. Newell was convicted and ordered to pay costs, M. B. Mitchell was convicted and discharged, and O. White was convicted and ordered to pay costs. J. B. Warren was fined 20s for building a garage without a permit, and J. W. Daurant was fined £2 for building otherwise than in accordance with a permit.
