U.N. SUB COMMITTEE DECISIONS U.S. AND RUSSIA AGREE ON TWO ISSUES B „ pm ] NEW YORK, Nov. 17. The United Nations Palestine subcommittee to-day approved a final boundary change which gives to the proposed Arab state the town of Beersheba and the surrounding district, together with a portion of land on the north-west frontier of the Negeb totalling about 575.000 acres. The status of Jerusalem remains to be decided. The United States and Russia compromised on partition this afternoon, agreeing that British rule should , Au S us L L and that Palestine should be divided mto Arab and Jewish states two months after the British withdrawal. The Soviet and American delegates
also agreed that the big Powers should have a limited veto powar over w operation of the five-nation con-jnii sion which the United Nation; establish to prepare Palestine foi‘ 1 dependence.
