OVERDUE LIBRARY BOOKS
♦—— POOR RESPONSE TO CAMPAIGN The overdue-book campaign, held at the Canterbury Public Library during the last two weeks, ended on Saturday, and during that time 157 books were returned. No fines were charged in the period, and two books issued in June, 1946 were received. The 1947 figures were-’ three for January, one for February, two for March, four for June, two for July, 25 for August, and 118 for September. Commenting on the response to the campaign, the librarian (Mr E. J. Bell) said yesterday that it was very disappointing. and that more than 1000 books were still' overdue, many of them for several months.
