PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

SURPLUS OF £lOO7 FOR FINANCIAL YEAR * For the eighth successive year, the church had been able to balance its budget said the general treasurer (Mr L. B. Musbet). in presenting the annual financial statement at yesterday s session of the Presbyterian General Assembly in Christchurch. Mr Mushet said he felt proud of the liberality of the people during the last year. The estimated expenditure was £59,471, but the actual expenditure of £63,747 exceeded this figure by £4276. However, the receipts from all sources showed a large increase also, and the total amounted to £64,754, leaving a surplus on the year’s working of £lOO7. Congregations were asked to give £49,975, and contributed £49,314, the highest contributions ever recorded. Funds of the church totalled £880,260.

The figures should surely give the church faith and confidence to meet the heavy burden of the present financial year, said Mr Mushet. If the people were told of the need for sup' port, they would give it. The adoption of the report, moved by Mr Mushet and seconded by Mr T. C. Brash, was approved.
