The United States will stop its shipments of relief supplies to China if any are used to assist in the maintenance of armed forces in China, according to an agreement signed yesterday in Nanking, the text of which has been released by the United States State Department. ■ The agreement, covering 30.000,000 dollars’ worth of supplies, was negotiated as part of the foreign relief programme authorised by the last session of Congress. The United States will ask no payment for the supplies, which will be limited to medicines, raw and finished material for clothing, fertilisers, pesticides. fuel, and seeds. The agreement stipulates that the relief supplies should be distributed without discrimination because of race, creed, or religious belief.
