GENERAL DE GAULLE’S PROPOSALS

"The French Socialist, and MR P. party leaders after long sessions last night issued statements rejecting cooperation with General de Gaulle," sajys the Paris correspondent of Reuters, "The Socialists said that General de Gaulle’s campaign for dissolution ijf the National Assembly and reviaion of the Constitution was in the best traditions of Bonapartism- He had formed a plan to substitute personal power for democratic institutions. ‘•The national committee of the M R.P.. in deciding to oppose General de Gaulle, gave a warning that Communist agitation might lead to the annihilation of civilisation- Political and social agitation, it said, would hurt the country and might lead to Communist totalitarianism, “The Communist Party called for united working-class opposition to General de Gaulle."
