471 MORE DEATHS
SMALL OUTBREAK IN . SAUDI ARABIA
(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, October 27. A total of 471 more cholera deaths has been reported in Egypt in’ the last 24 hours and a further 893 cases have been taken to hospital. The Egyptian Ministry of Hea« to has announced the formation of a high council of 30 to co-ordinate the fignt against cholera. An official of the Ministry .said that he did not know where Egypt would find dollars to pay for 50,000 dollars’ worth of an tie-cholera supplies from the United States. The Prime Minister Pasha), . after touring the provinces, announced drastic orders far keeping Egypt’s waterways clean. He threatened severe punishment for river and canal boatmen who take aboard persons lacking official innopulatiqn certificates.
The Ministry of Health repqrts frequent breaches of the health regulations, including attempts to escape from isolation areas.
“Saudi Arabia has stopped all air communications with Egypt after an outbreak of cholera in a Saudi Arabian village on the Persian Gulf,” says the Jidda correspondent of Reuters. “Jt is officially stated that the outbreak is small and has been carefully quarantined. “Saudi Arabia has also stopped all shipping contacts with Egypt except through Jidda, where a strict quaran= tine is operating.”
