LAWN TENNIS
LESSONS LEARNED BY DAVIS CUP TEAM (P.A.) AUCKLAND, October 7. R. S. McKenzie captain of the New Zealand Davis Cup team, arrived in Auckland by air from San Francisco yesterday. He said that both J. A. Barry and J. E. Robson, other members of the team, had gained considerable benefit from the tour. Robson, in particular, was a greatly improved player. “We were all raw recruits in comparison with many of the players we met, said McKenzie, “but we have learned a lot, and for this reason alone the tour was well worth while. The lack of time in which to practice before our first Davis Cup match and the peculiarities of the en tout cas courts used in Europe were a severe handicap.”
