COMPENSATION COURT
WATERSIDER GRANTED £675
James Park, a waterside worker (Mr T. A. Gresson) sought compensation in a claim against the Union Steam Ship Company (Mr R. W. Edgley), in the Compensation Court yesterday. Judge Ongley presided. The plaintiff claimed that on October 14 he was employed by the defendant company at Lyttelton as a waterside worker and was engaged discharging cargo from the Waitaki. While lifting certain metal in the course of his employment he injured his back, suffering from a prolapsed intervertebral disc. Mr Gresson announced that a settlement at £675 had been reached, and asked for judgment for that sum. This was granted.
