HUBERT CHURCH PRIZE
SECOND WIN FOR MR HOLCROFT
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Qctober 7. The Hubert Church memorial prize for prose, which is awarded by, the New Zealand centre of P.E.N., has been won for the second year in succession
by Mr M. H. Holcroft, of Invercargill,' for his essays, “Encircling Seas.” Special mention was made by the judges (Professors G. W. von Zedlitz and lan A. Gordon, and Mr Stuart Perry) of Dr. Guy Scholefield’s “Twelve Notable New Zealand Statesmen,” and Mr J. C. Reid’s “Creative Writing in New Zealand.”
