WARNING TO LAND AGENTS

PENALTY FOR BREACHES OF ACT (P.A.) AUCKLAND, October S. Terms of imprisonment might be expected in future by land agents who persuaded clients to ignore property values fixed by the Land Sales Court by making “under the table” payments, said Mr J. H. Luxford, S.M., to-day, when fining Joseph James Lawson £lOO, and ording the cancellation of his land agent’s licence. Lawson had been convicted on a charge of inducing . Alfred George Trotter to make a secret payment of £450 for a property. The vendor was Leonard Alfred Robottom. The Magistrate said that the facts of the case seemed to merit imprisonment.
