JUBILEE REUNION
WAltAki OLD GIRLS’ • ASSOCIATION This .month the Waitaki Girls’ High School will celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of its foundation. The occasion will be fittingly celebrated in Oamcru. but as many former pupils now living in Christchurch will be unable to attend these gatherings, the local branch of the Old Girls’ Association held a jubilee reunion at the National Club last night. It was an outstanding success. The president (Miss M. H. Meldrum) presided and among the guests, numbering about M, were representatives of the executive council of Old Girls' Associations, and of the Christchurch branches of old girls’ assooiations of Nelson College, Otago Girls’ - High School, and Timaru Girls’ High School. A presentation ot a silver replica of the school badge was presented by Miss Meldrum to Mrs H, D. Hall, who was president of the branch since its foundation seven years ago until recently, Several members spoke appreciatively of Mrs Hall's kindness and efficiency in guiding the branch in its infancy. Toasts to the principal of the school (Miss J. B. Wilson), and the staff, to, the former principal (Miss C. Ferguson), who is patron Of the Old Girls' Association, and absent members, and ; to representatives of kindred associations were drunk and the guests of honour were presented with shoulder . sprays. Mrs E. Morris (president of ■. the executive council of Old Girls’ Association?) thanked the hostesses for their hospitality. ■ Members of the branch's committee, ' who were in charge of arrangements, ■ : were Miss Meldrum, Mrs J, Buller s (honorary secretary). Miss B. Deal i (honorary treasurer), Mesdames Stuart I < N. Dowthwalte, and M, Milne.
