KRAMER WINS PACIFIC COAST SINGLES (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 5. Kramer won the Pacific Coast singles tennis title to-day with a hard fought win, 6-4, 6-2, 8-6, against Tom Brown, of San Francisco. .Miss Margaret Osborne beat Miss Dorothy Head, 6-1, 6-2, in the women’s singles flnal. In the men’s doubles final Kramer and Schroeder beat Bromwich and Geoff. Brown (Australia), 8-6, 7-5, 6-4.

SOUTH CHRISTCHURCH CLUB The Minister of Health (Miss M. B. Howard) and the president (Mr M. E. Lyons) played the first balls at the opening of the South Christchurch Tennis Club’s season. Miss Howard presented honorary life membership certificates to Mesdames J. L. Matthews and W. Duffield and Mr C. E. Heinz, and also presented trophies won last season as follows:—women’s champipnships (singles): Miss J. Mahoney. Doubles: Misses N. Hack and J. Mahoney. Men’s championships (singles):. W. Welsh. Doubles: R. Wilson and P. Mahoney. Handicap singles (women): Mrs O. Cahill. Men: K. Wilson. Mixed handicap doubles: R. Wilson and Miss L. Hawkips. « MOUNT PLEASANT CLUB The Mount Pleasant Tennis Club’s season was officially opened on Saturday by the Mayor (Mr E. H. Andrews), who was introduced by the club president, Mr T. G. Hi Buxton. Mr E. A. Lee spoke on behalf of the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association. Prizes won during the past season were presented by the Mayor «as follows:—men’s singles, E. J. Parish; junior boys’ cup. K. Chimside; junior girls’ cup, Miss L. Walton.
