TROPHY FOR ORATORY
N.Z. JUNIOR CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE (P.A.) WANGANUI, October 3. The Stotter Trophy for oratory competed for by members of the New Zealand Junior Chambers of Commerce was decided to-night. The winner A. M. Mee. of Dunedin, whose subject was “Richard John Seddon.” Mee was second when the contest was held at Timaru last year. Second place went to A. Alcorn, of Wellington, whose subject was “Miss Jean Batten,’’ and D. A. Ross, of Wanganui. whose subject was "Sir Truby King,” came third. The judges were the Rev. A. C. McLean. of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church. Mr F. W. Gilligan, headmaster of the Wanganui Collegiate School, and Mr R. S. Withers, a barrister. There were nine entrants.
