COURSES AT ARMY COLLEGES
N.Z. OFFICERS TO ATTEND (P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 3. Several regular Army officers will leave New Zealand soon to attend courses of instruction in England as part of the policy of sending officers to England to receive higher training which cannot be given in New Zealand —a policy which was valuable in standardising military thought in the forces of the Empire. This statement was made to-day by the Minister of Defence (Mf F. Jones). Tlie Minister said that Brigadier W. G. Gentry, 0.8. E., D.S.O. and bar, who had a distinguished Wat record would attend the 1948 course at the h W n B. l Defence College, London, while Captain L. A. Pearce and Captain L. A. Kermqde will attend the course .commencing in January, 1948, Staff College, Camberley. About IJO officers from most parts of the Empire attend the Staff College every J! is re «, nrde d as the first step to higher appointments in the Army and competition to Obtain nomination is intense.
