BRITISH ROCKET PLANE
ATTEMPT AT SPEED OF 850 MILES AN HOUR (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, October 3. The Ministry of Supply announced last night that an attempt will be made on Wednesday to fly a pilotless rocket aircraft at 850 miles an hour. The rocket will be launched from a Mosquito aeroplane flying six miles above the Atlantic Ocean off the south-west tip of England. Scientists conducting the tests hope to gain Valuable information leading to the achievement of controlled flights at high speeds. The United States is known to be conducting similar exi perimen ts.
