PRICE OF ICE CREAM
APPLICATION FOR INCREASE LIKELY (PA.) AUCKLAND. October 2. The increased price of butter-fat is causing concern to the ice cream industry. “It seems inevitable that representations will have to be made to the Price Tribunal for some relief,” said the president of the New Zealand Ice Cream Manufacturers’ Association (Mr J. H. Naylor) this afternoon. He expressed extreme doubt whether ice -cream concerns could carry on at the present selling prices. The costs of wages and transport had increased considerably, and the wholesale price of ice cream was no higher to-day than it was 20 years ago, he said.
