BRITISH IMMIGRANTS FOR AUSTRALIA
PARTY TRAVELLING ON ORMONDE (Rec. 7 p.m.) CANBERRA, October 2. The liner Ormonde will leave England on October 11 with 1073 migrants for Australia, according to the Federal Minister of Immigration (Mr A. A. Cal well), who said that the New South Wales contingent would include a . party of building tradesmen with their I families. They had been nominated ■ by a British contractor. ’ In reply to a question, he said that of 525 British tradesmen migrants brought to Canberra, only 157 were still there. The figures, however, were . not so alarjning as they seemed, as 1 most of the men had found jobs else- | where.
