AUSTRALIANS MISS THE KANIMBLA
RETURN ON THE WAHINE NEXT WEEK
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, October 2. Seventeen Australian soldiers who missed the Kanimbla when she sailed for Sydney on Tuesday with a British Commonwealth Occupation Force draft returning from Japan are expected to leave for Wellington next Thursday. They will sail from there by the Wahine on October 10 in accordance with instructions from Australian Army headquarters that they should embark on the next available ship. No indication has been given whether the troops will be penalised for having had to spend the extra time in New Zealand. On occasions when returning New Zealand members of the J Force have missed their troopship at an Australian port, the time of their stay in Australia has been deducted from the leave due to them. The Australian soldiers are quartered at Papakura military camp. Apart from having to report daily they are not placed under any restrictions.
