Two of the emergencies, J Marriner and E. G. Boggs, are a’so not available, and. have been replaced by A. Blake (Wairarapa) and A. Pinfold (Wairarapa).
RUGBY LEAGUE
OTAHUHU BEATS BALMAIN (P.A.) AUCKLAND, October 1. Beaten by the better side on the day, Balmain, the visiting Sydney Rugby League football team*, was defeated by Otahuhu this afternoon at Carlaw Park by 19 points to 8 in the first of its four matches in Auckland. Heavy rain made the ground a little holding, but did not hamper back movements. The Otahuhu forwards paved the way for the side’s wiq and frequently bustled the opposition into errors For Otahuhu tries were scored by N. Sanderson, R Speedy, and S. Harris. E. Pattillo convert ed one try and R. Martin two. Pattillo and Martin also kicked a penalty goal each. J. Clare and A. Patton scored tries for Balmain, and J. Jorgenson kicked a penalty goal.
