KAISER’S STEPSON SENT TO GAOL
MEMBERSHIP OF NAZI PARTY
(Rec. 7 p.m.) BERLIN, Sept. 36. A British military court sentenced Prince Ferdinand von Carolath, step-son of the former Kaiser, to nine months’ imprisonment for lyiqg to conceal membership qf the Nazi Party.
Evidence from the Nazi Party files showed that Prince Ferdinand became a. member in 1932, and it was stated that he denied that he was a member when he filled in the Military Government denazification questionnaire last year.
Reference was made during the trial to k Prince Ferdinand’s report to the United States Army pplice that jewels belonging to fiis mother, Princess Hermione, had been stolen from his Berlin apartment. The jewels have not yet been recovered.
SENTENCE ON FRITZSCHE CONFIRMED tßec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, September 30. A denazification tribunal at Nuremberg, after hearing an appeal by Mans Fritzsche, *the former Nazi press chief, confirmed the sentence of nine years’ imprisonment, but agreed that the two years he has already spent in prison should be deducted-’ The court ordered that Fritzsche must never again hold public office or preach or write for publication. He will not be able tq vote or draw a pension, and his property will he confiscated except for sufficient income that he is able to purchase bare necessaries
