VALUE OF MEAT RATION COUPONS
WELLINGTON, September 30. The Food and Rationing Controller (Mr A. J. Costelloe) said to-day that the basic weekly meat ration was Is lid for adults and Is for children under five years. Seasonal fluctuations in meat prices made it necessary to increase the ration scale above the basic rate during certain months of the year. At present the seasonal fluctuations were at their upper limit and the meat ration was above the basic scale by 2d in the North Island and 3d in the South Island. Mr Costelloe said meat coupon values would be as follows in the South Island during the next nine months:—
