ZOOLOGIST FOR MUSEUM
CAREER OF MR W. H. DAWBIN
The new position of zoologist at the Canterbury Museum was filled by the Canterbury University College Council yesterday afternoon with the appointment of Mr W. H. Dawbin, who is at present junior lecturer in zoology at Victoria University College, "Wellington. Mr Dawbin’s experience is varied. He graduated Bachelor of Science at Victoria University College in 1942 and then qualified as a Master of Science with hrst-class honours in zoology. He won Senior, Jacob Joseph, and Shirtclifte Scholarships. Foi a time he was attached to the Plant Research Bureau in Wellington and, while on Army service coastwatching in the sub-Antarctic islands, he found time for scientific investigations in a wide field. Before going to his present position, he spent some time at the University of Otago doing research on sciatica for the Medical Research Council.
Mr Dawbin is expected to come to. Christchurch when the University session ends in Wellington.
