PROPOSED FORESTRY SCHOOL
CANTERBURY’S CLAIMS SUPPORTED The establishment of a School of Forestry in Canterbury controlled by the Senate of the University of New Zealand was supported by the Christchurch City Council last evening. In a report which was endorsed by the council, the Director of Reserves (Mr M. J. Barnett) said that Canterbury offered greater facilities for the study of forestry under various circumstances and under varying conditions than other parts of New Zealand. Mr Barnett said he understood it had now been decided that the School of Forestry would be controlled by the Senate, but the location had yet to be decided, the choice being between Canterbury and Rotorua He recommended that full support should be given to the claims of Canterbury.
