OPAWA SCHOOL FAIR

Sir, —L. C. J. Southern's letter is misleading. He states that the Opawa branch of the Labour Party is assisting the Opawa School Committee to raise funds to improve the school grounds, etc. The booklet distributed by the school committee states that the fair is to provide money for school amenities and to assist the local branch of the Labour Party to acquire funds for its own purposes. No one objects to the Labour Party helping the school, but many of us object strongly to being forced, if we want to help the school, to help the Labour Party to raise funds for its own purpose as well. I do not believe* the Labour policy is in the best interests of my children; yet I cannot keep them home from the school fair, though I know that half the money I give them to spend will go to help the Labour Party. A school fair is the last thing, surely, to be dominated by politics.—Yours, etc., INDIGNANT PARENT. September 27, 1947.

Sir, —Ao one of those narrow minded gentlemen to whom L. C. J. Southon refers in his letter to-day I don’t object to the Opawa branch of tne Labour Party supporting the school committee to obtain funds for improvements at the school; but I do strongly object to any of these funds being used to assist the Opawa branch of the Labour Party.—Yours, etc., EX-SERVICEMAN. September 27, 1947.
