OFFICIAL FORECASTS “The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, Sept. 26. The weather forecast for Canterbury Issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the. 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: — Situation: an intense anti-cyclone covers the north-west Tasman Sea. A deep depression is east and south of New Zealand. Forecast to 5 p.m.: fresh to strong south-west winds, Weather cold and showery. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:—-South-west winds, fresh to strong at times. A period of showers during the morning. Weather later fair again. Temperatures cold. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather yesterday was fine and gunny, with a moderate south-west wind. The maximum temperature was 56.5 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear and there was no wind. The barometer, steady, registered 29.85 r, inches (1010.8 millibars).
