GERMANS DEMAND MORE FOOD
DEMONSTRATIONS AND STRIKES (Rec. 11 p.m.) LONDON, August 29. The Berlin correspondent of “T'ne Times” says that demonstrations and strikes have taken place in Berlin and the British zone of Germany in protest against the present rations. Ten thousand workers on the Siemens staff demonstrated on Thursday on their sports ground to urge the Allied Kommandatura to increase the supply of food. Building trade workers in the RhineWupper area struck this week in an attempt to secure increased rations. Trade union leaders fear the strike may spread to Dusseldorf. Seven hundred men at Leverkusen ■ downed tools because they were no i longer getting the workers’ ration j card.
