ELECTIONS IN HUNGARY
POLLING TOMORROW
MORE VOTERS REMOVED FROM LISTS
(Rec. 8 p.m.) BUDAPEST, August .28. The Hungarian Government has canned the Opposition Independent Party’s final election meeting. New electoral lists posted yesterday showed that about 18 per cent, of the voters included in the first lists for the General Election on Sunday have since been disfranchised. They have been crossed from the lists as a result of denunciations by fellow voters or by the police, alleging that they are unfit to vote under the electoral law which excludes “former Fascists” from the polls. Opposition. circles fear that lastminute deletions may seriously reduce the chances of the Opposition parties.
