OFFICIAL FORECASTS “The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, August 28. Hie weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office. Wellington, and dealing with the 20 hours following the time of issue, is as follows: Situation: a depression east of the South Island extends on to the North Island, but is moving slowly eastwards. Forecast: moderate southerly winds predominating. Weather changeable with occasional showers and fair periods. Temperatures rather cold. Further outlook: improving. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Light to moderate variable winds. A few occasional showers, but weather mainly fair with moderate temperatures. Further outlook: fair to fine.
CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER
The weather in Christchurch yesterday Was fine, but overcast and cold. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was overcast and there was a light breeze from the west-north-west.
