The regulations governing the carrying of lights on special tynes of vehicles were criticised by Mr R. Wilson, of the Automobile Association (South Canterbury), who presided at a meeting yesterday of the executive committee of the South Island Motor Union. Mr Wilson said that the present regulations called for a blue light to be carried by vehicles drawing trailers, and on vehicles more than gix feet in width. If vehicles were more than seven feet. wide, clearance lights had to be carried to show their width. He felt that all vehicles more than six feet wide should have clearance lights. The blue light, used for two purposes, was confusing, and it was often lost in the headlights of the vehicle carrying it. It was decided to discuss the question at the annual conference of the union next month.
