Forecast: moderate I south-west winds, fresh or strong on exposed parts of the coast. Weather unsettled and cold, with occasional rain. Further outlook: slowly improving. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate variable winds, southeasterly prevai’ing. Weather fair to fine. Temperatures cooler. Further outlr-’z: fine. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine but overcast with a moderate south-west wind. At 1 o’clock this morning it was overcast after rain, and there was a light south-west wind. The barometer at 29.345 inches (998 millibars) was steady.
