NEW ZEALAND WOOL FOR FRANCE

PROPOSED RATIFICATION OF AGREEMENT (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) PARIS. August 26. The French Assembly’s Economic Commission has recommended that the agreen ent for the purchase of New Zealand weol be ratified. [A financial agreement designed to facilitate the sale of New Zealand wool to France and making available to France a credit of up to £5.000,000 for the purchase of New Zealand produce during the five years ending June 30, 1952, was signed on July 2 by the Minister of Finance (Mr W. Nash) and the Minister of the French Republic to New Zealand (Mr A. Gazel). Mr Nash said the credit would be made available to the French Government to the value of one-half of the cost of the wool bought by French buyers, the reirairing one-half to be provided in the normal manner. The total advances were tG be repaid not later than December 31, 1957, with interest at the rate of 2J per cent.)
