DEARER COW COVERS

REMOVAL OF SUBSIDY (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 27. Wholesale and retail prices of New Zealand-made cow covers were first to be affected by the withdrawal of primary production subsidies, said Mr J. R. Don, secretary of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association. Mr Don said he had received advice from the Price Tribunal authorising manufacturers to pass on the amount of the subsidy. New prices were 12s lOd wholesale and 15s 5d retail for 24-ounce jute covers, an increase of 2s 8d in' each case. The cheaper 21-ounce jute covers would retail at 13s Bd, and be sold to wholesalers at Ils sd.
