CANTERBURY AND AUCKLAND
REPRESENTATIVE MATCH TO-DAY
A fine exhibition of fast, open play is expected when Canterbury meets Auckland in the representative Rugby football match at Lancaster Park to-day. After their impressive win over Wellington, Canterbury’s representatives are keen to improve their record. Auckland confidently expects to give a better performance than against South Canterbury. The team has been rearranged, especially in the backs. The All Black captain, Allen, has come back into the team, and under his leadership the backs can be relied upon to give a good display. Although without the services of Kelly, Argus, and Savage, the Canterbury backs are a sound combination and should give a good account of themselves. A. Cochrane. who has dropped out of the backs because of an injury, has been replaced by R. Clarke, of Christchurch, who goes to centre. C. Rowlands moves out to the wing. Canterbury will be strong in the forwards, with Bond, Hobbs, Stuart, and Henderson to lead the pack. The match, which commences at 3.15 p.m., will be refereed by Mr W. J. Brown. The teams are as follows:
Canterbury.—T. Jackson; C. Rowlands, R. Clarke, W. McHugh; P. Kearney, J. Roach; R. Bennett; G. Bond. D. Gibson, I. Mitchell, M. Henderson, B. Chandler, F. Hobbs, A. Couling, R. Stuart. Auckland.—C.
